Wild-type (WT) and gis2Δ cells harboring either the empty vector (+ pBG) or galactose-inducible GIS2 or ZNF9 were grown in synthetic medium supplemented with 2% galactose to late mid-log phase. The cell area relating to the cell-size is depicted for 50 cells and the average is marked with a black line (***P < 0.0001). (b) Vegetative growth. WT cells or gis2Δ cells harboring either the empty vector (+ pBG) or galactose-inducible GIS2, ZNF9 or SLF1 (positive control for vegetative growth defect) were serially diluted (1:5) and spotted on the indicated plates: SC -Ura, synthetic complete medium lacking uracil; SG -Ura, the same as SC -Ura but also containing galactose instead of 2% glucose.
