A) HT and T preferred codons AGR whereas codons CGN were preferred by M. The mesophiles Mycoplasma senitalium (Mg) and Caenorhabditis elegans (Ce) showed no preference whereas Saccharomyces cerevisiae (Sc) preferred AGR codons. B) The percent of Arg in the proteome increased with the G+C content, except for the halophilic Archaea, Halobacterium sp (Hal). The preference for CGN codons (black circles) cannot be attributed to the G+C content.
