The sample selection criteria based on correlation value to within group expression. A mean correlation within the acute fatal (a) and acute survivors (b) was used to determine samples with evidence of unreliable sequencing. A cut-off value of 0.8 was used (dashed line) and samples that fell below this within-group mean correlation were removed from analysis. This led to selection of 88 acute fatal samples and 24 acute survivors
