The x axis gives the year that the association was discovered with robust (genome wide) significance. The y axis is the effect size (odds ratio) for type 2 diabetes association. Colors indicate possible disease mechanism. The odds ratios for type 2 diabetes were all obtained from the recent publication by the DIAbetes Genetics Replication and Meta-analysis (DIAGRAM) Consortium [1].
