cAMP signaling in glaucomatous astrocytes. (a) cAMP levels in unstimulated ONH astrocytes were determined as described in the Materials and methods. The basal cAMP level was significantly higher in glaucomatous astrocytes compared to their normal counterparts. Values are the mean ± standard deviation of cAMP expressed in pmol/mg of protein. Eight AA, four AAG, nine CA and four CAG individual samples were used in this study. (b) Confirmation of PTHLH and CAP2 expression by qRT-PCR in human ONH astrocytes. Genes were normalized to 18S.
