*The value for transcript abundance (measured by qRT-PCR) immediately prior to induction (0 minutes) divided by the abundance 60 minutes after addition of thiostrepton to the culture (I60). The data confirm that transcription of the first gene in each of cvns 1, 10 and 13 is repressed following induction of ppGpp synthesis in M653 [ΔrelA tipAp::relA(1.46 kb)] but unaffected in the control strain M667 [ΔrelA tipAp::].
