Hypothetical model illustrating how NFI-A could promote oligodendrocyte differentiation. According to this model, nuclear factor I-A (NFI-A) suppresses expression of genes related to oligodendrocyte precursor cells and activates expression of genes whose products are important for mature oligodendrocyte function.
