  1. For each motif, the number of genes for which the significance associated with finding that motif had a p value < 0.05 are listed. These values are reported for unique genes that were significantly up-reguated (Up) or down-regulated (Dn) by MnSOD in flies of both the same chronological and 'physiological age' and for the reference list (Ref), which derives from the Affymetrix DrosGenome1 array. The mean number of regulatory sites identified in the promoter region of the genes for which the motif was significant for a particular gene set is also reported (in parentheses). The significance of the enrichment for a given motif within a particular gene set is reported in the form of a p value:; † significant, * highly significant.
