The signal strength around the initiation site [-5,+5] (measured as information content in bits [45]) is lowest in promoters that have the most favored TATA-TSS spacings (30 and 31 bp). The signal strength is increased in promoters with a TATA-TSS spacing ranging from 32 to 34 bp.
