Each set of three bars represents a particular construct for a gene, labeled WT (wild type) for unaltered promoters, control del. for the control deletion of a random motif and specific for the specific deletion of the identified motif. In each bar, the proportions of embryos that were classified either as having no expression, ubiquitous only expression or ubiquitous with clonal expression are shown in yellow, maroon and blue, respectively. Each reporter was injected around 30 times and the expression patterns were scored in a double blind manner. GFP, green fluorescent protein.
