Sample sequencing of 17 clones with primers for the granule-bound starch synthase (GBSS) gene in a single hexaploid wheat accession resulted in the identification of three distinct haplotypes (numbered on the right). These haplotypes must represent inter-genome polymorphism (between the ancestral A, B and D genomes) rather than inter-varietal polymorphism, as they come from a single accession.
