Each dyad is represented as a box of a given color, whose height is proportional to the significance level of the pattern, as indicated on the legend. The identified over-represented patterns are indicated in the inset on the upper right-hand side; n stands for any nucleotide residue and n{x}, with x from 2 to 11, indicates the spacer length in terms of the number of wild-card positions.
