  1. Reaction kinetics were monitored at 32°C using 40–75 nM enzyme purified in this study (P. aeruginosa and S. typhimurium) or previously (E. herbicola [12]). Bovine serum albumin was present at 0.1 mg/ml. Initial rates were used to calculate the steady-state kinetic parameters of Km and kcat. pI/Mr valueswere determined by use of the compute pI/Mw tool at ExPASy [47].
